Overview:
The Facility Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of data center facilities and infrastructure, including white space, MEP systems, and building operations. The role ensures high availability, operational efficiency, safety compliance, and optimized capacity utilization across the site while leading facility strategy, maintenance programs, and vendor management.
This role combines facility management, data center operations, leadership, and white space optimization to support mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities:
Facility & Infrastructure Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the data center facility, including electrical, mechanical, and building systems (MEP).
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to prevent downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Own preventive and corrective maintenance programs for infrastructure and critical systems.
- Manage building systems, repairs, upgrades, and expansion activities.
Data Center Operations & Reliability
- Lead data center operations to meet uptime, reliability, and SLA targets.
- Act as the escalation point for critical incidents, leading troubleshooting and recovery.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive solutions for recurring issues.
- Monitor and report KPIs, system health, and performance metrics.
White Space & Capacity Management
- Manage data center white space (server rooms, racks, layouts) for optimal utilization.
- Develop and maintain capacity plans, rack space allocation, and expansion strategies.
- Maintain accurate inventory and DCIM records for equipment and space usage.
- Conduct audits on power, cooling, and space utilization and recommend improvements.
Projects, Design & Continuous Improvement
- Lead facility-related projects, including construction, fit-outs, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Collaborate with engineering, architects, and design teams for infrastructure planning.
- Drive automation, sustainability, and efficiency initiatives.
- Ensure as-built drawings (AutoCAD/PDF) and documentation are up-to-date.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers, including performance tracking.
- Approve and oversee Permit-to-Work (PTW) processes.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders (IT, NOC, Security, Projects).
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with US regulatory standards, safety codes, and data center certifications.
- Lead HSE programs, fire drills, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Maintain adherence to Uptime Institute standards and operational best practices.
- Promote safe working environment and housekeeping practices.
Space, Asset & Cost Management
- Manage space planning, office/facility utilization, and cost efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee inventory, storage, and asset lifecycle management (equipment and furniture).
- Control operational budgets, CAPEX/OPEX, and cost optimization strategies (inferred from facilities ownership)
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop facilities, operations, and technical teams.
- Provide training on operational procedures, safety, and infrastructure management.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field).
- 8–12+ years’ experience in data center facilities or critical environment operations. (aligned consolidation)
- Strong experience with:
- MEP systems in mission-critical facilities
- Data center infrastructure and white space management
- Incident management, RCA, and maintenance programs
