We are looking for a strategic and collaborative Product Owner to lead the development and execution of our Document Management Systems roadmap. This role will be responsible for shaping the future of how content and documents are stored, classified, accessed, and governed across the organization.
The Product Owner will oversee a diverse landscape of solutions—including but not limited to SharePoint—and will drive the consolidation, migration, and transformation of current systems into a cohesive, scalable, and secure enterprise-wide platform. A key part of the role includes implementing robust data classification models, ensuring that sensitive and critical information is properly managed in line with compliance and governance standards.
The role works across all business functions, engaging a wide array of stakeholders, and is central to enabling secure and efficient document and content management across the company.
Responsibilities:
- Define and own the strategic roadmap for enterprise Document Management Systems, driving standardization, consolidation, and future scalability.
- Lead the assessment and migration of legacy document storage solutions into modern platforms, including SharePoint and other enterprise tools.
- Implement and continuously evolve a data classification framework, enabling differentiated handling of sensitive, confidential, and public content.
- Partner with business units to understand their unique document and content needs, and translate them into system requirements and prioritized user stories.
- Collaborate with IT, Security, Legal, Compliance, and other functions to ensure governance, compliance, and risk mitigation are integrated into platform design.
- Manage the product backlog, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.
- Coordinate with technical teams to ensure successful design, configuration, deployment, and support of document management solutions.
- Facilitate training, communication, and change management to drive user adoption across the business.
- Monitor and evaluate platform performance and usage, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and automation.
- Stay current on trends and developments in enterprise content management (ECM), recommending enhancements and innovations as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in enterprise IT or digital platforms, with at least 2 years as a Product Owner or in a similar leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint and familiarity with other document/content management platforms (e.g., M-Files, Box, OpenText, OneDrive, etc.).
- Strong understanding of data governance, content lifecycle, and information security principles.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders, from end users to compliance officers to technical architects.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
- Experience with data classification, taxonomy development, and records management.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001) and compliance frameworks.
