Engineer - IP Backbone (Space42)

Overview:

Working within the IP Backbone -Enterprise Network team to maintain and support Space42 growing network infrastructure.

Contribute to the design and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs

Responsibilities:

• Provide Level-2/3 Network support and troubleshooting to resolve network issues
• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
• Monitor performance and ensure network availability and reliability including system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
• Contribute to the design, planning and implementation of enhancement projects.
• Select and implement network security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s Network team
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Qualifications:

• Proven hands-on network support experience.
• CCNP or higher certificate (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
• Working knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
• Multi-vendor experience, especially with technologies like Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, HP Network and Aruba.
• University degree in Computer engineering or a related subject
• 5 years+ experience in operating and maintaining Networking Systems.
• Knowledge of Routing, Switching, and Firewall Security (at least one at an expert level)
• VPNs (Site-to-Site / Remote Access)
• Working knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6
• Understanding of BGP, OSPF, ISIS, RIP, Dot1Q Tunnelling, VxLAN, IPSec, and DPI (advantageous)
• Multi-vendor integration (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto)
• Project management (design, procurement, integration, handover to support)
• Ability to validate solutions (lab testing, recommendations, implementation)
• Documentation skills (Visio diagrams and technical writing)
• Problem ownership and independent research/analysis
• Understanding of satellite and communication integrations (advantageous)
• Network Management Systems (NMS), Configuration Management, IPAM, Radius, Tacacs, and related tools
• Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
• Systems analysis with strong attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
