The Opportunity
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Presight, you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of advanced software systems that power our AI and analytics solutions. You will be responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performing backend services, while contributing to architectural discussions and leading the implementation of best practices across backend engineering efforts.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, secure, and scalable backend services and APIs using technologies such as Java, Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and backend architecture.
- Develop clean, reusable, and maintainable code using industry best practices.
- Build and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Design and maintain scalable databases, particularly using PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Implement security measures and authentication layers to protect backend APIs.
- Participate in overall product architecture discussions to ensure backend services align with system-wide goals.
- Contribute to Agile development cycles, including sprint planning, estimation, testing, and documentation.
- Assist in requirement analysis, effort estimation, and prioritization of backend development tasks.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to knowledge-sharing and technical growth across the team.
- Comply with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management and Governance of Organizations policies, procedures, plans and related risk assessments.
Qualifications:
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of software engineering experience with strong backend development exposure.
- At least 3 years of experience working in Agile development environments within AI or analytics-focused organizations.
- Strong expertise in one or more backend technologies: Java, Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Proficient in building RESTful APIs using frameworks like Spring Boot.
- Experience implementing backend API security and authorization layers.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep domain knowledge in AI, big data, or analytics platforms.
- Experience working in high-performance, data-intensive application environments.
- Passion for continuous improvement and innovation in backend engineering practices.
