The Opportunity

The U.S. Tax Manager will play a critical leadership role within Core42’s in-house tax function, with responsibility for managing U.S. tax compliance, reporting, planning, and tax risk management across the organization. This role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and the global tax team to ensure accurate tax reporting, strong internal controls, and alignment of tax strategy with business objectives.

The role will work closely with the global tax team based in the UAE, ensuring Core42’s interests are appropriately managed from both a U.S. and global tax perspective. The position focuses primarily on U.S. tax matters—including federal and state corporate tax, transfer pricing, business tax, sales & use tax, franchise and excise taxes—as well as international tax considerations affecting U.S. entities.

This is a high-impact role suited for a technically strong tax professional who is comfortable leading complex matters, managing external advisors, and operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage U.S. tax strategy, planning, and structuring initiatives to support Core42’s operating model, commercial objectives, and growth strategy while managing tax risk.

  • Oversee U.S. federal and state corporate tax compliance, including review of tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, extensions, tax provisions, and maintenance of supporting documentation.

  • Manage U.S. transfer pricing matters, including coordination of annual documentation, intercompany analyses, and alignment with global transfer pricing policies.

  • Lead sales & use tax and other indirect tax matters, including nexus analysis, exemption applications, return filings, and coordination with external advisors.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for U.S. federal and state tax audits and notices, coordinating responses, documentation, reconciliations, and audit strategy.

  • Prepare, review, and approve internal tax technical memoranda, position papers, and assessments of complex tax issues.

  • Own U.S. tax calendars and ensure all statutory and internal deadlines are met.

  • Manage and oversee external tax advisors and consultants, ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of deliverables.

  • Monitor U.S. tax legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential impacts on the business, proactively advising stakeholders.

  • Lead and support data collection, analysis, and review for Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) and Pillar Two requirements impacting U.S. entities.

  • Provide strategic tax advice on Investment Tax Credits, tax depreciation, amortization methods, and other incentives.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance tax processes, automation, and internal controls.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and other stakeholders to improve tax data accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Provide guidance and informal leadership to junior tax team members, as applicable.

Qualifications:

  • CPA license (active or eligible) or Master’s in Taxation (MST).

  • 8 Years of post-qualification experience in U.S. tax, ideally within a Big Four firm and/or a multinational organization.

  • Strong technical expertise across the U.S. tax landscape, including federal, state, and international tax matters.

  • Experience managing multinational tax issues, transfer pricing, and cross-border structures.

  • Proven ability to manage complex tax projects and external advisors.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
