Overview:

Senior Network Engineer – Core42 (United States)

About Us

Core42 is a leader in AI-powered cloud and digital infrastructure, enabling sovereign, secure, and high-performance compute environments at global scale. We design and operate infrastructure that supports next-generation AI workloads, including GPUaaS, HPC, and large-scale cloud platforms. Our mission is to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure that powers digital transformation in highly regulated and performance-critical industries.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to play a key role in the design, architecture, and operational ownership of secure network infrastructure supporting AI, GPUaaS, HPC, and enterprise cloud environments.

This role goes beyond operational firewall administration and requires an engineer who can own network security architecture decisions, define standards, and drive scalable and secure design patterns across multi-site and multi-tenant environments.

You will act as a technical authority for Palo Alto Networks firewall infrastructure, ensuring secure, highly available, and policy-driven network design across datacenter and cloud ecosystems.

This role partners closely with infrastructure, security, platform engineering, and architecture teams to ensure network systems meet strict performance, resilience, compliance, and security requirements at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of secure network architectures across enterprise, datacenter, cloud, and GPU/HPC environments
  • Define firewall security architecture standards, segmentation models, and traffic flow design principles
  • Architect and enforce zero trust-aligned segmentation strategies across multi-tenant environments
  • Own end-to-end design and advanced administration of Palo Alto Networks firewall environments using Panorama
  • Define and govern firewall policy frameworks including App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, threat prevention, and secure access models
  • Lead firewall policy architecture, optimization, and lifecycle governance (cleanup, standardisation, and rationalisation)
  • Design and support secure routing and connectivity across complex environments including BGP, OSPF, VRFs, VLANs, NAT, and VPNs
  • Oversee integration of datacenter fabrics including front-end, back-end, management, and out-of-band networks
  • Support high-availability architectures for firewall and network systems across multi-site environments
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to translate regulatory and security requirements into enforceable network controls
  • Lead firewall rule audits, risk assessments, and security posture improvements
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise security frameworks and zero trust principles
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts across network and firewall infrastructure using logs, packet captures, and telemetry tools
  • Support major incident response involving network containment, traffic analysis, and rapid mitigation strategies
  • Define operational standards for monitoring, alerting, and logging across firewall and network systems
  • Drive automation initiatives using Ansible, Python, Terraform, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Standardise firewall configuration deployment and reduce manual operational overhead
  • Improve infrastructure scalability and repeatability through automation frameworks
  • Act as a senior technical point of contact for network and security engineering teams
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical capability development within the team
  • Collaborate with architecture, platform, and application teams to ensure scalable design alignment

Qualifications:

  • 4–7+ years of network engineering experience in enterprise, cloud, datacenter, HPC, or large-scale infrastructure environments
  • 3+ years of advanced firewall experience, with deep expertise in Palo Alto Networks (PAN-OS, Panorama)
  • Strong background in network security architecture, not just operations
  • Experience designing and operating high-scale, multi-tenant, or distributed network environments
  • Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, and security protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRFs, VLANs, IPsec, NAT, DNS)
  • Experience with firewall policy design at scale, including segmentation and zero trust principles
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using logs, packet captures, and network analysis tools
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments including security, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams
  • Ability to translate business and security requirements into scalable technical designs
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in GPUaaS, AI infrastructure, HPC, or hyperscale cloud environments
  • Experience with zero trust architecture and microsegmentation at scale
  • Strong automation experience (Ansible, Python, Terraform, APIs, CI/CD)
  • Exposure to load balancing, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection, and enterprise security tooling
  • Relevant certifications (PCNSE, CCNP Security, JNCIP, CISSP or equivalent)
