The opportunity
 

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Construction Project Manager with a strong background in civil, construction, and mechanical engineering to oversee the development, expansion, and optimization of high-density AI computing environments. This role is critical in managing all aspects of data center construction, from initial design through commissioning, while ensuring the highest levels of efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

 

As a Data Center Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for tracking and monitoring all ongoing construction efforts, coordinating with vendors, and advising management on facilities engineering and operational requirements. Additionally, you will develop, refine, and maintain best practices documentation to support the evolving needs of AI-driven high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of data center construction and expansion projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Track and monitor all ongoing construction efforts, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with business and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to integrate IT, power, and cooling requirements into the construction process.
  • Manage relationships with construction firms, suppliers, and other vendors to ensure high-quality service and adherence to project specifications.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of vendors and contractors to ensure contract compliance and optimal project outcomes.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and procurement processes for construction materials, mechanical systems, and other infrastructure needs.
  • Provide technical expertise in civil, mechanical, and construction engineering to ensure structural integrity, cooling efficiency, and power management in high-density AI computing environments.
  • Advise senior management on facilities engineering best practices, emerging technologies, and improvements to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with operations, networking, and HPC teams to align facility requirements with AI compute infrastructure needs.
  • Develop, update, and maintain best practices documentation for data center design, construction, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines.
  • Establish standardized reporting and tracking mechanisms for construction progress, risk management, and quality control.

 

What we’re looking for:

Required skills / qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center construction, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, structural engineering, and fire suppression systems in high-density computing environments.
  • Proven experience in project management, budgeting, and contractor/vendor coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

 

Preferred skills / qualifications

  • Experience working in AI, HPC, or hyperscale data center environments.
  • Familiarity with LEED, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, and data center cooling/power best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, facility management software, and risk assessment frameworks.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time role is $225K to $275K, with bonus, LTIP, and benefits on top. Salary ranges are set according to the role, level, and location. The range listed on each job posting represents the minimum and maximum target salary for new hires across all U.S. locations. Actual pay within this range will depend on factors such as the specific work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
