The Opportunity
Core42 is seeking a Software Development Engineer Intern who is eager to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world projects. This internship is designed for current undergraduate students who are at least in their junior year, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields. The selected candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in software development practices within an innovative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support software development tasks under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Assist in writing, testing, and debugging code using Python, Java, or similar languages.
- Participate in team meetings and Agile/Scrum ceremonies to gain exposure to software development workflows.
- Contribute to small components or features within larger projects.
- Document work and progress clearly and accurately.
- Learn and apply secure coding and DevOps principles, including basic CI/CD pipeline concepts.
- Stay curious and open to feedback while continuously learning new technologies and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python or Java.
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and work in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) or containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git is beneficial.
- Completed relevant coursework or personal projects related to software development.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary for this internship position pays from $5,000.00 in our lowest geographic market to $5,000.00 in our highest geographic market. The actual base salary will be determined by various factors, including the position’s location, job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and relevant education or training.
Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, such as merit-based salary increases, annual bonuses, and long-term incentive plans, which are contingent on individual and company performance. Additionally, some positions offer the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization targets.
