Overview:

AIQ is looking for a Specialist - APC SME who will be responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of Advanced Process Control (APC) AspenTech or Honeywell. The responsibilities of the role span across all phases of the project to ensure a timely installation and configuration of APC system, as well as continuous support for the operation and site engineers on operating and maintaining the APC.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform onsite step testing for any process and well operation.
  • Apply expertise in dynamic linear models (DLM) and multivariable predictive control (MPC) techniques to develop and implement advanced control strategies for production optimization.
  • Implement MPC algorithms to optimize complex process in real time, considering multiple variables and constraints.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new control systems related to APC, as well as testing, maintaining, and modifying existing systems.
  • Monitor and inspect the instrumentation and controls (I&C) installation activities of the Contractor with regards to progress, compliance with the Contract and applicable codes/standards, quality, safety and environmental acceptance.
  • Review and approve site related I&C and OPC equipment design and engineering matters.
  • Coordinate with IT/OT and Digital Oil Fields focal points on the technical requirements and standards compliance.
  • Ensure safety functions are integrated into all aspects of work for all personnel.
  • Review and approve the proposed APC test procedures done by the Contractor.
  • Witness and participate in such tests and review the related test reports.
  • Attend the regular (daily and weekly) site coordination meetings with the Contractor and the monthly progress review meeting (when held on site or on Teams).
  • Perform site visits and data collection activities.
  • Prepare the regular Site progress reports for the I&C APC related systems as required.
  • Maintain records for the part of variations by either the Contractor or ADNOC/Client including the necessary evidence.
  • Review and confirm the completeness and correctness of the installation and configuration.
  • Handover Packages as prepared by the Contractor.
  • Review the preliminary documentation and the commissioning O&M manuals submitted by the Contractor.Assist in the coordination of I&C equipment works with civil, mechanical and electrical works to avoid conflicts and minimize delays of the projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards, especially with ADNOC requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of project management execution, cost, and time constrained environments.

Qualifications:

Professional experience required:

  • At least 4 years of professional experience Advanced Process Control (APC), including but not limited to AspenTech, Honeywell, Yokogawa, etc.
  • At least 3 years of extensive experience onsite installation, configuration, and support as a lead engineer (experience with closing all stages of the project).
  • Mandatory knowledge in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), preferable in Honeywell, Yokogawa, Schneider, Siemens and/or ABB.
  • Mandatory knowledge and experience in network architecture (OT/IT).
  • Mandatory experience with OPC servers and knowledge in OSI PI historian.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in firewall configuration.
  • Candidates with previous CICPA and Optima will be preferred.
  • Candidates who have knowledge and experience with ADNOC HSE safety standards and requirements will be preferred.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Process Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
