Product Manager (Subsurface Domain)

Overview:

AIQ is looking for a Product Manager (Subsurface Domain) to lead the development of AI-driven products focused on subsurface workflows and upstream oil and gas operations. This role requires a strong product leader with hands-on subsurface domain expertise who can translate real operational challenges into scalable digital solutions. The Product Manager will own the product roadmap, prioritize features based on operational value, and work closely with customers, engineers, and data scientists to deliver commercially viable products that improve subsurface performance and efficiency. The position is highly operational and customer-oriented, requiring deep understanding of upstream workflows and the ability to bridge subsurface operations and product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product strategy and roadmap for AI-driven subsurface solutions
  • Translate reservoir engineering and subsurface workflow challenges into scalable digital product requirements
  • Prioritize features according to value, urgency, commercial impact
  • Engage with the development team to validate their designs and solutions
  • Work closely with reservoir/production engineers, data scientists, and software developers to design AI-enabled subsurface workflows
  • Support deployment and adoption of subsurface products across multiple clients
  • Develop new business opportunities by leveraging contacts, pursuing new product development, and improving project efficiency
  • Contribute to technical positioning, customer engagement, and opportunity identification for subsurface digital solutions
  • Identify opportunities to integrate machine learning, advance analytics, and automation into petro-techichal workflows in reservoir management, production surveillance, and optimization
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends and developments relevant to the field
  • Stay ahead of market trends in Artificial Intelligence within the Oil and Gas domain and cascade insights to the broader team
  • Ensure commercial viability of all developed solutions
  • Conduct market research through a variety of techniques
  • Convert findings into actionable recommendations in written reports or presentations
  • Develop the department’s operational plans and budget requirements with respect to people, operations, and technology
  • Participate in the development and regular reviews of teamwork and ensure timely completion of activities
  • Develop and recommend the appropriate organization structure for the department to meet business objectives
  • Responsible for the development of policies, processes, procedures, and systems in line with best practices and company Code of Practices
  • Propose improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards
  • Manage internal and external audits of the department to ensure timely actions and closure of audit recommendations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 5–10 years’ experience in product management, subsurface engineering, or upstream oil & gas digital solution development/support
  • Deep and up-to-date knowledge of subsurface workflows and reservoir engineering practices in upstream oil & gas operations
  • Experience working with oil & gas software platforms, in product development, customer support, deployment, or technical sales roles
  • Proven experience AI and machine learning applications in upstream workflows
  • Familiarity with subsurface solutions such as geological modeling, reservoir simulation, production surveillance, and reservoir management
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including software engineers and data scientists
  • Communication skills to negotiate effectively with both customers and developers
  • Good understanding of AI: what is possible/impossible, what is hard/easy
  • Good understanding of Agile Development Process
